Jesus Breaches The Peace At Easter – Police Shut Him Down
I'm not usually a reporter type of blogger. But I can't resist telling you about this story.
A local church's Easter presentation on the street in a town near Melbourne got shut down over Easter by the local police. The police said the presentation was causing distress to children and other passers by. Watch the video and come to your own conclusion. (The church did the same presentation in 2009 without the same controversy.)
The story went national very quickly. There was TV, national newspaper and state newspaper coverage.
Pastor Sarah Kenneally handled the media coverage very well. She wants to meet the big cheese of police to talk more about it.
Made me think about how I would handle a fast emerging media issue such as this one.
How about you?
Does your spokesperson/pastor have media training?
Do you have have a PR strategy for telling your story to the press?
