Facebook Live Just Gets Even Better

As I wrote about last week in my predictions for 2017 Facebook Live was right up there as signposted for major developments.

I don’t often do breaking news, but these updates are worthy of sharing. There are huge positive implications for church Facebook pages. The improvements are:

Go live from your browser

Page admins will be able to access FB Live in their browser. This will give many more options for different kinds of posts that were never available before. Check our some of my post ideas here.

Live contributor for pages

Previously to use FB Live you needed to be an admin of the page. Now you can assign specific individuals the ability to broadcast live from the page. This is a great idea for churches where your senior leaders may need to get some news out quickly, or go live with a devotional.

Video insights for profiles

If your senior leader has lots of followers on their personal profile they will be able to dig deep into some insights to see how their message is resonating with their audience. Nothing like some real feedback for those preachers!

There are more update announcements here on their blog.

Again if you are looking for posting ideas for Facebook Live for your church check out my ideas here. If you want to see some examples of churches using Facebook Live, see them here.

  1. Hey Steve,
could you get some insids of how to connect a propper camera to my Facebook account for a good quality Video – ore do we all just have to use iPhones?

  2. One probable we are facing is Facebook blocking and taking down our live video because of the worship music. We have all the right licenses to stream our worship time. Have you heard of other churches having this problem and how are they overcoming them? We use Livestream as our main streaming partner and we love the feature that when a channel goes live it pushes to Facebook live. We don’t want to have to run another stream just for Facebook if we don’t have to.
